Tiny Shetland Arrivals at Love From Shetland

Springtime in Shetland always brings plenty of new arrivals, and this week we’ve been helping care for two adorable little caddy lambs.

The lambs came to us from a friend in Spiggie who needed some extra help looking after them. Both lambs are now three days old and settling in well with plenty of warmth, bottles, and sleep.

The smallest lamb is a pure Shetland Sheep ewe lamb. She needed a little extra support at first and spent some time under a heat lamp the day before she properly came around, but she’s doing really well now — staying warm, feeding properly, and getting stronger every day.
The second lamb is a Shetland Texel Cross Sheep lamb who is slightly bigger and just as eager when bottle feeding time arrives.
At the moment both lambs are spending most of their time curled up sleeping, staying cosy, and enjoying lots of attention. They’re taking their bottles brilliantly and are already being watched closely by Didley and Bella, who seem very curious about the tiny new arrivals.
There’s always something special about caring for caddy lambs in Shetland. The bottle feeds, sleepy cuddles, and tiny baas quickly steal everyone’s hearts, and we’re delighted to see these two doing so well already.

We’re also going to be asking for name suggestions over on our Facebook page, so keep an eye out and let us know what you think these two little lambs should be called. We can already tell they’re both going to have plenty of personality as they grow.
